Brazil has overtaken
Mexico as the Latin American country with the largest number of industrial
robots. Brazil had 4,000 industrial robots at the end of 2002. The bulk
of them are in the motor industry. Brazil accounts for 90% of all robots
in South America, according to figures from the United Nations' Commission
for Europe. Brazil now has about as many robots as Mexico, but far fewer
than Japan, which has 350,000, or Germany, which has 105,000. The UN reckons
that there are about 770,000 industrial robots in the world. In 2002,
420 robots were installed in Brazil. This was down slightly on 2001 when
450 were installed. End of preview - This article contains approximately 2438 words.
